Invoice Simple vs Invoice-Generator.com: Pricing, Limits and a Third Option
These two turn up for the same searches and are very different products. Invoice Simple is a subscription invoicing app — phone first, from $6.99 a month. Invoice-Generator.com is a free web generator that has been online since 2012 — no account, with ads. This page sets them side by side on price, free limits, documents, sending and card fees, and adds the option neither of them is: free, no ads, no cap. Every fact was checked on September 17, 2026 against each product's own site, help center and store listings, and against Trustpilot, Capterra and the Internet Archive where those are named.
The short answer
- Choose Invoice Simple if you invoice from your phone most weeks and want estimates, receipts, signatures and card payments in one app — and you are fine with Premium at $21.99 a month, because the cheaper plans stop at 3 or 10 invoices.
- Choose Invoice-Generator.com if you need a PDF now, want document types beyond invoices or an API, and the ads do not bother you. Make an account if you want your invoices to survive a cleared browser.
- Consider Invoice to PDF if you want the no-account generator without the ads and without a cap, plus a free dashboard for clients and statuses. It has no mobile app and no card payments yet.

What each one costs
Invoice Simple sells volume. Essentials is $6.99 a month for up to three invoices, Plus is $14.99 for up to ten, and Premium at $21.99 is the only plan without a cap; paid yearly they are $69.99, $149.99 and $219.99. The prices move: an archived copy of its pricing page from May 2026 shows Plus at $13.49 and Premium at $19.99. Its terms, last modified on June 1, 2026, make subscription fees non-cancelable and non-refundable — worth knowing, because 7 of its 20 most recent one-star Trustpilot reviews, read on September 17, 2026, are about charges after cancelling or refused refunds.
Invoice-Generator.com charges nothing to create and download, and its help page says outright that there are no limits. It shows advertising, which its privacy policy says Playwire manages, and it publishes no price list: the pricing, plans and upgrade addresses all return "Page Not Found". The only paid product its public pages mention is an API subscription — the API is free for 100 invoices a month, and the price beyond that is not published.
Invoice to PDF is free for unlimited invoices and PDFs. The Pro plan, launching soon at $9.99 a month or $99 a year, adds the sending automation; the price is public and locked for existing subscribers.
What you get without paying
With Invoice Simple, a trial rather than a free plan. Its help center offers 14 days of Premium, after which you choose a plan; its getting-started article says the mobile app allows two free documents and one send without a card. Its public invoice generator page asks you to accept the terms before the editor opens.
With Invoice-Generator.com, the whole generator: unlimited documents, no account. One detail matters more than it looks: without an account, the invoices you download are remembered in your browser's local storage, and its own help page says that clearing your browser history erases them with no recovery. An account moves them to the cloud.
With Invoice to PDF, also the whole generator — without ads. Drafts autosave in your browser, the invoices you download are kept in a private Downloads list, and a free account adds saved clients, paid and overdue statuses and three email sends a month.
Making the invoice
Invoice-Generator.com is the broadest on paper: twelve generators built on one form — invoice, receipt, quote, estimate, credit note, purchase order, proforma, timesheet and more — with a PO number, a ship-to block, amount paid and balance due, one template in two themes, an interface in 16 languages and a currency list of about 180 codes. Labels are editable and "Save Template" remembers your logo, address and terms.
Invoice Simple covers invoices, estimates and receipts, converts an estimate into an invoice, and produces client statements. It has four standard templates and three more for Premium, with a custom colour; photos and your own signature need Plus, and a client's signature on an estimate needs Premium. The iOS app speaks 23 languages; the web generator, four.
Invoice to PDF is one clean sheet: your logo, tax, discount and shipping, a deposit line that turns "amount paid" into "balance due", 159 currencies, and editable labels, so the same sheet becomes an estimate, a proforma or an invoice in another language. 26 industry presets fill in a trade's usual line items. Fewer document types than Invoice-Generator.com, and no signatures or photos.

Sending and getting paid
Invoice Simple sends by email or link on its paid plans, with due-date reminders from Plus. Card payments run through Stripe or PayPal at 3.49% + 49¢ for US cards, and ACH through Stripe costs 1% + 30¢ capped at $15, according to its help center. Stripe's own published US rate is 2.9% + 30¢; Invoice Simple's terms say it charges its own fees for payment processing on top of the processor's, and neither page says how the 3.49% is split. The first Stripe payout takes 7 to 14 business days, later ones 1 to 2.
Invoice-Generator.com needs an account to send. The buyer can then pay by bank account or card, and its guides describe payment links, view tracking, automatic reminders and recurring invoices. Its help page, guides and terms do not say who processes the payments, what they cost, or how many sends a free account includes.
Invoice to PDF includes three email sends a month on a free account. Unlimited sending from your business name, automatic reminders and recurring invoices are the Pro plan, which is launching soon; Pay Now is planned through your own Stripe account, at Stripe's rate plus 1% on Free and 0% on Pro. Today, neither the automation nor the payments are live — if you need them this week, the other two have them.
Reviews, ads and who is behind them
Invoice Simple is an app-store success — 4.9 from about 123,000 ratings on the App Store and 4.8 from about 171,000 on Google Play, with its iOS app last updated on September 14, 2026 and its Android app on September 11. On review sites it splits: Trustpilot 3.9 across 379 reviews, 54% of them five stars and 32% one star, and Capterra 3.7 across 44. On Capterra its best sub-score is ease of use (4.1); recent five-star Trustpilot reviews mostly praise its support team. Its one-star reviews are mostly about billing, price increases and the monthly caps. It is run by Zenvoice Software Inc. in Canada and belongs to EverCommerce.
Invoice-Generator.com holds 4.7 on Trustpilot across 295 reviews, 91% of them five stars. People like that it is free and simple; the recurring complaint is the pop-up advertising, and two recent reviews are about a subscription. It is made by Idealist Software, LLC; its terms are governed by Texas law. Its public release notes stop at June 5, 2024, although its guides describe features the notes never mention, and we found no app of its own in the App Store or Google Play.
Invoice to PDF is new — online since August 2026 — so there are too few public reviews to quote, and we would rather say that than borrow a number. It shows no ads and does not sell personal information; the business model is the Pro plan.

If what you liked about Invoice-Generator.com was "open the page, make the invoice, leave" and what you liked about Invoice Simple was "my clients and paid statuses in one place", Invoice to PDF is the overlap: the generator needs no account and has no ads or caps, and the free account keeps clients, statuses and downloads. What it does not have yet is a mobile app, card payments, or the due-date reminders that Invoice Simple includes from Plus — those arrive with Pro.
